12 Reasons Why Every Business Owner Needs To Have A Life Coach

Imagine you’re a self-trained athlete and you’re going to compete in a boxing match. You’re standing there waiting for your turn in the competition excited about having such a great opportunity and feeling good about what you know, after all, it got you all the way to this level, right?

You enter the ring and you see your opponent. You feel confident you can take him down. You lock eyes and the match begins. You throw your first punch and you miss him. That’s ok, you gain back your balance and you raise your guard back up. He throws a punch and you barely dodge it. You do a little dance throwing punches at each other and before you know it, you’re on the floor feeling the room spin with you. You get back up and go to your corner but there’s nobody there to give you a pep talk, to pass you water, to treat the injuries of the blow you’ve just taken, and to help you get your head back in the game.

You take a glance at your opponent in the opposite corner and you watch as he’s being cared for, and for the first time you realize that you can’t do this on your own, no matter how good you are and how far you’ve come on your own. You realize the potential that’s left undiscovered and the training you haven’t done that could cost you your biggest dream. Now you have two choices. You can back on the ring, hope that you can win and get your butt kicked or you can realize your shortcomings, go hire the help and come back in full force.

This story here represents how people get into business and why they either struggle or give up altogether. We all have immeasurable amounts of talent, it’s in our DNA. We can accomplish the unthinkable, literally — imagine being someone from 1920 seeing today’s world.

However, we have come to understand how valuable having help and support is, and how far it can get us.

We now live in a world that provides us with better resources, more people trained to help us, more efficient strategies, better support that that can show us how to leverage what we know and to point out our blind spots so that we can get out there on the ring and compete at full capacity.

Life coaching is one of the best things that we have ever come up with. This field has trained an army of people to become someone’s biggest supporter, accountability and strategy partner, confidant, and resource bank.

If that didn’t convince you, I’m going to give you 12 reasons why every business owner should have their own life coach and present you with the difference it will make.

1. Clarity

Clarity is an essential part of a thriving business.

The greatest minds in the world that have built successful businesses is because they had clarity about: who they are, where they’re at, what their dreams are, what they want to accomplish, whom they want to help, how they want to help, and what they’re willing to do to get there.

Clarity has so much power, but most people walk through life and go in business with their glasses fogged up, feeling disoriented. A great coach has the ability to help you clean up the lenses, dig for answers and come up with an action plan to get you to the finish line.

2. Health

I don’t care what business you’re in, if your health isn’t your priority, everything else that you do will suffer because of it.

We’re becoming more and more educated about the benefits of a healthy diet, exercising, meditation, mindfulness, and a plethora of other things that help us stop burning the candle on both ends.

Business can be very taxing, let’s be real. It can be very demanding and it requires us to be in the best condition we can be. When your health is in check and you’re being proactive about looking after yourself, not only will you have more energy, you’ll also have a more profound impact.

Coaching is all about being proactive and setting up your days in a way that is conducive to better health, more energy, and building a powerful mindset.

3. Communication

Need I say more?

I actually developed a course with a very simple and powerful technique around this alone because I find that our biggest problems are created due to poor and inefficient ways of communication.

What would it be worth to you to learn to express things in a constructive way in which people get inspired and motivated to do what you ask them to do?

What if you can learn to give feedback in such a way that your customers, clients, and associates come to ask you for your opinion because they value it so much?

A coach can help you see your blind spots, bring to your awareness unconscious patterns and provide you with better ways of addressing the situations you’re being faced with.

4. Improved quality of life

Business owners are such special humans. They have a mission, they have ambition, they want to make the world a better place through their products and services, they put their heart and soul into what calls their heart. They’re fully invested in what they do.

One of the downfalls of being so involved in the business is that they work until they can’t remember what day or year it is. Often time their health declines, their relationships suffer, their memories and experience bank is in the negative and they often ask themselves what all of it is for.

I think it’s really important to remember that life is about meaning, it’s about exploring, it’s about getting to know ourselves and remember to be present as much as we possibly can, and a great coach can help you achieve that easily.

5. Fulfilling relationships

Relationships are hands down one of the top priorities for people everywhere. They are the zest of life. They provide us with a lot of meaning for our existence, they give us purpose and they add to the quality of life that we live.

No matter how successful we are in business if our personal or professional relationships suffer, they affect how we show up and they influence our ability to be and do the best that we can. When your relationships are in great condition, they have a very positive impact and they lead to rapid growth in all other ventures of life.

Most often when I work with clients and I notice that their performance suffers or there are self-sabotaging tendencies, we examine all the important relationships in their life to see if we can pinpoint the source of the behavior, and nine out of ten times there is one or two relationships that are the culprit. Once addressed and worked on, their performance in business improves as well.

6. Productivity

Are you as productive as you want to be? You might want to get a coach! (wink wink)

No, but really. Are you?

When I start working with clients is because one of the things they’re able to recognize is that they are not as productive as they’d like to be and because they have not been able to do as much as they had hope to do on their own.

As mentioned earlier, we have a lot of influences from our environment, from our past programming, from current events and circumstances. These all affect what we do and how we do it.

When we’re able to become clear about where we are, where we want to go, what stands between the two points, and create a battle plan, you’re ready to win the game and reap the fruits of your labor. A skilled coach can make this a very fun and engaging process that will add to the bottom line of your business in no time.

7. Performance

There are so many people who have great dreams, great ideas, great hopes, and great plans but never take any action. If you want to have a successful business, you have to be able to take to completion the vision you’ve had in your mind.

Just as we talked about in productivity, performance is its twin brother, and your mindset is very important in achieving what you set out to do. In my experience I see a lot of business owners believing that they don’t have what it takes to perform the tasks required to have a profitable business. They doubt themselves on everything from creating a business plan, to having better habits, to believing in their product, to getting on calls, to writing those emails, and so on.

If you really believed right now that you can do absolutely anything, what would your performance be like?

How well defined are your goals?

Asking yourself the right questions can help you improve your performance. This is something that coaches do a stellar job at. When you ask powerful questions, you will get powerful answers. That’s why the first thing to work on when you want better performance in your business is yourself and your mind. Once that’s in good shape, everything else will follow.

8. Efficiency

As a species, we’ve always been fascinated and intrigued by finding better ways to do something. Some businesses have their mottos include these aspects such as bigger, better, and faster. As a business owner, it’s important to be able to maximize your time, energy, and resources for the best outcome.

Unfortunately, the majority of people aren’t even close to being as efficient as they can possibly be. I like to actually invite you to ask yourself this question and answer it honestly.

“Am I as efficient as I can be?”

Answer with a “yes” or “no”. Then proceed to ask yourself how you can be more efficient if the answer was “yes” or how can you become efficient if the answer was “no”.

This is just a little sample work on why working with a coach can help your business grow exponentially. Little simple tools and strategies can add to the bottom line of your business and increase your customer satisfaction. As coaches we are in the “winning business” — we win when our clients win.

9. Energy

On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your current energy level?

With as many demands as we have today, people are doubling up on coffee, energy drinks, and other substances to keep up with the requests.

What if you didn’t need to depend on those?

What if there are better ways of organizing your time so that you can do things and show up with renewed energy every day?

Imagine what your business could look like if you showed up every day, ready to go, with a clear mind and your battery fully charged. And on top of that, you become your own energy generator and learn how to replenish as you go instead of burning out.

If burnout and overwhelm are something you’re experiencing, you would highly benefit from having a life coach. I have several strategies that I use and teach my clients and the results are phenomenal.

10. Personal growth

It is becoming more and more obvious and now research is being done around the fact that companies cap out at the level at which the leader is at. If you want your business to go to the next level, you have to do that first.

Personal growth is a beautiful journey. It’s not always easy, but it’s definitely rewarding. You are and always will be your best investment because when you grow, so does everything else around you.

If you asked me a little over 10 years ago where I would be today, I couldn’t have told you that because my future vision didn’t exist. I had a guestimate, but that was not a very pretty picture. However, that tough period of my life has taught me the value of investing in myself, learning the power of my mind, and leveraging the potential that always resided in me.

Today I sit and tell a beautiful story of how I impact people’s lives around the world, but all of this would not be possible if it wasn’t for my own personal growth which started with the decision to explore all that I am and all that I can be.

Now it’s your turn. What will you discover about yourself with the guidance of a coach?

11. Support

I want you for a moment to think of a person who’s really successful. It can be someone from the past or someone who’s currently alive and then ask yourself if you think that he or she achieved that success alone.

Oftentimes people will tell you that entrepreneurship or being a business owner can be a lonely road, but no matter how lonely it feels, every person that’s ever achieved success in their venture has done it with the help of a friend, family member, or a community of likeminded people.

Maybe that’s what you need the most at this point. I’ve seen people seek out coaching and mentorship for two reasons:

a. They have tried doing things on their own, then because they didn’t get too far by themselves they got really discouraged and almost called it quits but instead they made the better choice to hire someone to be in their corner to help them out.

b. They did really good on their own but they hit a limit they can’t pass or they’re just hungry for the next level so they hire someone to help them 10x their current results and provide leverage options that will permit them to have a bigger impact with less time and effort involved.

What do you think is possible for you with the right support system in place?

12. Possibilities- outside the box thinking

If you were, to sum up coaching in one word it would be “possibilities”. I love this word so much because it connects to the limitless potential that we all have a human beings and it allows us to explore what we’re truly capable of.

People seek coaching for many reasons, from resolving past trauma to adopting better habits, transforming mindset, building better systems, impact the world in a more profound way, and everything else in between. But nothing, and I mean nothing excites me more than possibilities.

Coaching helps people have hope again and paints the picture of what is really possible. I have come to believe that if we can think it we can have it, if we can dream it we can achieve it.

Have you explored what’s possible for you?

If you haven’t, I’d love to chance to talk to you. I’m only a message away. One single conversation can create the most phenomenal shifts in your life. I’ve done this so many times with people and I’m still amazed by how transformed and empowered people walk away from these short talks.

Look, you may think that your situation is different, that you have to do it alone, that nobody understands you, that you’d look like a con artist if you talked about your real thoughts and feelings, that you don’t have what it takes or whatever else your mind cooks up.

The sole reason we don’t get what we want in our lives and in our businesses is that we have uninvestigated thoughts and we believe untruths about ourselves and the world. When you pull back the curtain and you blow away the smoke in mirrors, you’ll be surprised about how much you can do and how fast you can achieve it.

Let’s start a bigger picture conversation and start you on the road to your biggest goals and dreams, the world is counting on it.

People are waiting for you.

Can You Make A Living Being A Life Coach?

Yes you can!

But the reality is that the majority of people that get certified as a coach don’t.

I’ve been in this game a long time and for a while I’ve been a part of that majority that didn’t make money. A lot of people would’ve given up, but instead I got really intrigued by what was going on. I was on a quest to find out what was separating the ones who were making money in this vocation and those who didn’t.

When I first started out, I would watch success story after success story being broadcast all over the place and sometimes I would feel really inspired by it, but most of the time I would just beat myself up by bringing up all the reasons why I couldn’t make this dream work. I was stuck in pointing out everything that I was lacking: time, money, beauty, resources, people, knowledge and so on.

Can you relate? If you’ve felt that and done that, don’t worry, there is hope for you too!

I’m here to shed some light on why things don’t work out for most people and what you need to take a look at if you want to be successful and make money in your coaching practice.  But before I do that, I want to talk to you about some of my discoveries.

Right now, based on my coaching experience in the past few years, I can tell you that roughly one percent of coaches (yes, you’ve read that right, it’s not a typo) have an actual businessThe rest merely have a dream.

We’ll talk in a minute why that is so, and what you need to do to get yourself over the fence and start earning money too.

Having a dream isn’t bad, that’s how it all starts. But believing in yourself and in your abilities to make it happen is the difference between you from having success and giving up.

You’re not wrong to have this desire. A lot of individuals are waking up to see that there are better opportunities and that they have a deep longing to serve, to do what their heart calls them to do.

Every day, more and more people jump on the dream of having the financial freedom, the time freedom and the location freedom that the coaching career promises. Let’s look at some statistics.

Based on an article published by the ICF (International Coaching Federation) as of 2018 there were more than 100,000 life coaches in existence.

We are now in 2020 and we can safely say that that number easily tripled. Based on my experience, I can venture to say that we probably have more than a million coaches. ICF is not the only institute that certifies coaches.  There are dozens and dozens other respectable institutions founded by powerful leaders such as Tony Robbins, Jack Canfield, Bob Proctor, Brendon Buchard and many more that are helping people get qualified to be a transformation advocate.

So then, if there is such a demand for coaches and so many people desire to become a coach, why do most fail to make that dream happen?

I can sum it up in one word: MINDSET.

Now you may think that’s over simplistic, but yes, that’s the reason why most coaches don’t realize their dream of having a business and being successful. You’ll see exactly why later in the article.

Often, what I see happening in the process is that the transition the individual goes through, from being an employee to being a business owner, is being oversimplified, neglected or completely ruled out.  So when a coach finds themselves having to run a business with its multitudes of demands and no directions on how to handle them– they feel overwhelmed, stressed and discouraged.

I usually compare the process to being given the most sophisticated and advanced car. While you may be excited about how it looks, what it can do, how fast it can drive, the way people will look at you when you’re driving and the fun of being in it, if you don’t know how to drive it, if you don’t know what the buttons do, if you don’t have the key, then you’re most likely stuck looking at it, and possibly getting pissed at yourself that you don’t know how to navigate it.

Now instead imagine that when this beautiful machine is being handed to you, that it comes the best instructor who can teach you how to do everything and look like a pro doing it in less than a week. How awesome would that be? You’d be the happiest and coolest driver ever!

Unfortunately most of us try to “figure out” the buttons, pressing them randomly and hoping that we’ll “get” it. It may take a long time, it may even cause damage to the car, but we continue to try to “figure it out”.  That’s exactly how most coaches approach business, and I speak from experience.

Look, there will always be things that we need to learn on our own, I’m not discounting that. There will never be that perfect instructor to give you every single detail and be there with you every single step of the way, and that’s not a bad thing, our growth depends on that. But the mastering the basics – being able to operate the business (the metaphorical car)—is the most important part. Having a mentor to help you get there can save you so much mental anguish, so much money and so much time.

I’ve paid my dues, that’s why I want to make sure you can learn from my mistakes, struggles and from the things I’ve learned over the years after working with hundreds of coaches and entrepreneurs. I want to help simplify the process for you.

That’s why, if you want to have a successful business, you have to look at the basics.

So what are the basics?

Habits

Habits are the practices that either take us where we want to go or away from it.

First we build our habits and then they build us. If you want a successful business but you are in the habit of procrastinating, you won’t get far. However, if you have good habits that support and work towards your goals, success is inevitable.

One way to know if your habits are the right ones is to look at your results, because results don’t lie.

  • Where are you?  (Answer that honestly.)
  • Are you close to getting results or are you just getting started?
  • Do you even know what results you want to achieve?

A little reverse engineering can help you determine some of the habits you need to start installing in your life. Be sincere with yourself and start with one then add more and more productive habits as time goes on. Soon you’ll be closer and closer to your reaching your goals. One way to organize, build and implement your new habits is to have the next basic in place, and that is:

Schedule

Your schedule is extremely important! Take a real good look at it and you’ll see why you’re not having success yet. However, there is a lot more that goes into having a schedule, and most people are under the assumption that it is just the written tasks on a calendar, but I’m going to venture to say it’s more than that. Have you ever written something on your schedule but didn’t stick to it? I’m going to guess “yes”, and here’s why.  There are two things that are necessary to make sure we comply with our schedule.

Those two things are priorities and boundaries. Do you have them set?

First you need to set priorities such as projects or things that move the needle. Do you know what your priorities are in your business?

Then you have to create boundaries – internal and external. For example: if you want to work on a project and you know you get easily distracted by chores, media, people and other things, you have to be very diligent and proactive about how you prevent yourself from being sidetracked.

Also, if you don’t have a good handle on your emotions and your focus, you need to start there. I’m not being insensitive, I’m just telling you that you need to look at this because I know this to be one of the top reasons why coaches don’t follow a schedule. They tend to allow their emotions to decide when and if they get work done.

This takes me to the next element I consider to be an important part of the Basics.

Discipline:

Here’s how I define discipline: we either pay (the price of regret) or get paid (for the commitment we have to something).

Here is more about what I mean by that:  we either pay in suffering (defeat, doubt, anxiety) for wasting time, money and energy and by not getting what we want because we don’t take things seriously or we don’t do the things that matter.

Or the opposite of that which is: we get compensated for the focused effort that we put towards intentional goals.

Every great master understands this principle. Discipline is actually your ticket to freedom. It is not your restrictor. Discipline is about taking back your power. It is about not allowing yourself to be at the mercy of your environment, circumstances, old beliefs or untamed emotions.

So how should you start developing discipline?

By working on your mindset!

Mindset

Mindset is the way you think about the things you do, about the opportunities that come, about how you handle rejection, about how your money stories shape you and so on, is crucial. It is how everything begins and ends.

Your attitude will either be your best friend or your worst enemy, you can decide which you want to keep by your side. If things are not working in your favor right now, you need to tend to your mindset ASAP.

Mindset is something that you’ll have to continuously work on. As you build your mindset and grow, your outer life will reflect that. Every great teacher knows that the true aim of life is who we become.

So take a look at where you’re at and decide who you want to become!

When I work with clients, we take a look at all these things, but for me the most fascinating aspect is people’s relationship with money, their self-worth, their ability to translate their talents into profits, their ability to bypass their old money paradigms, because if they don’t address this important aspect, then no matter how much they can help others, they can never monetize their skills.

Money stories are what really keep coaches broke. I’ve invested quite a bit of time into finding out why that happens, and I’ve noticed some common patterns. While we come from different background and we use different excuses (or so we think), ultimately there are top 7 subconscious beliefs that keep coaches from making money in their practice.

I want to invite you to take a look at this unbelievable offer and extremely affordable option that can help you once and for all understand what beliefs keep you broke, where they stem from and how to overcome them.

Click the link below and I hope you’ll be one my next success stories! I’m set on helping one thousand coaches break their limiting beliefs and fears around money and have them join me on being a prosperous coach in 2020 and beyond.

What NOT To Do As An Entrepreneur

While it’s important that we study and grow as people and as business owners, one important element that gets consistently overlooked by entrepreneurs is: what not to do!

Not all behavior is acceptable! Your character is your “business card” so make sure you design it well!

If you’re thinking “but I do know what I should or shouldn’t do” allow me to say that I’m not discounting that, but since you’re already reading this, I’d still like to invite you to revisit and use this to refresh your memory.

You’d be surprised of how many people are doing the things I’ll be discussing in this article, on a daily basis.  I was actually quite baffled to see that there are people teaching and preaching about moral compass, about principles, about growth, about how to be a leader, about how to develop a brand based on values, about all these improvements, yet when it came to their interactions with my clients or me, their behavior was completely inappropriate and quite unethical.

Let’s see what’s on the list. Are you ready?

#1. Do NOT be disrespectful to someone. Treat others the same way you would like to be treated.

#2. Do NOT tell someone you’re better than them at what they’re doing or that they don’t know what they’re doing. Questioning someone’s abilities will most likely get you on the “do not call” list.

#3. Do NOT make a joke out of someone’s service. We all have different approaches to things.  Yours is not the only way or the right way, it is just a different way. Be respectful.

#4. Do NOT go on a call just to preach and with no intention to listen.  Remember, a great leader listens and learns, and that can’t be done if they do all the talking. Listening is power.

#5. Do NOT speak in a condescending manner to anyone.  You risk being cut you off right away if you do this.

#6. Do NOT interrogate someone.  This can cause someone to feel that you’re prying into their own space.  Building rapport is a better way to go about it.

#7. Do NOT tell someone you won’t be getting on a call because you’ll both sell each other your own services! You’ve just lost yourself not only a potential client but also a connection and/or a great referral.

#8. Do NOT make an appointment and not show up.  If your time is valuable, so it’s theirs! Respect it!

#9. Do NOT write someone off.  Even if you haven’t closed your sale, you can always create a connection that can lead to opportunities (sales, connections, invitations and so on) in the future.

#10. Do NOT talk about yourself the entire call. People are not impressed with it, especially if you’re the one trying to obtain a client. It is egocentric and you’re more than likely to lose their interest.

#11. Do NOT only have a sale on your mind. The difference between customers and clients is that a customer will buy from you once (even if you got them or “tricked them” to buy what you’re selling), but a client is someone who sees the values in your mentorship and will continue to seek your guidance.

#12. Do NOT be distracted. Most opportunities are missed because there was a disconnect, and 9 out of 10 times is because you weren’t fully present.

#13. Do NOT pursue someone to do business unethically. Doing this will cause your credibility to fly out the window.  Think things through more thoroughly!

So what do you think?

Which one(s) have you encountered?

Have you come across a different situation you’d like to tell me about?

Leave your comments below! I’d love to hear about your experiences and how you handled those situations or if you need help handling them with more poise.

How To Experience The Present Moment Through Gratitude

I like to approach life and business very similarly, because they are interconnected in a lot of aspects, even for those who declare that they keep them separate.  So I’d like to cover a topic today from a more personal standpoint to show you how the minutiae are what drives your world with or without your awareness, and how to take advantage of a newfound perspective. This will help you appreciate life at a deeper level and be more fulfilled at the end of your day.

Here it goes…

I have noticed that we’re always in the rush to be somewhere, to do something, to be someone, to be with someone, to eat something, or whatever else we engage in and that we hardly take time nowadays to be fully present.

When you’re constantly in a rush, you forget what you have here and now, and it seems like you’re almost always one step behind what you’re trying to feel.  It always feels just a hair out of your reach.

So today I’d like you to invite you to practice being in a moment of fully experiencing grace, the gate to the deepest part of you that is connected to everything you have in your life for which you may have never even expressed your appreciation for.

A while back I was in a conversation that was a huge eye-opener once again of how really blessed we are, truly beyond comprehension. Even though we may not have everything we dream of (the things we believe hold the key to our happiness), we are without a doubt showered every day with such an abundance of what we need. I’ll ask you a question that will forever change the way you look at your life and will empower you to not only acknowledge your current abundance level but also create more of it.

I want you for a moment to think of something you do every day.  It could be anything from preparing that cup of coffee you have when you awake, or maybe that shower you just took or even possibly the shoes you put on your feet.  Simple, right?

Now I want you to think of the effort it actually took for those things that you’re using or consuming to be in your presence.

For example: for the coffee, you enjoy every day (or maybe it’s milk, or tea or any other type of beverage), the coffee bean had to be planted in a fertile soil and be tended to, then it needed the rain and the sun to help it grow; afterward it took a bunch of people to harvested it and roast it and package it and transport it and so on.

You having that cup of coffee even 50 years ago might’ve been a luxury, but now it became something mundane you don’t even have time to acknowledge or savor because you’re in “go mode” all the time.

When is the last time you actually showed gratitude and thought about what it truly takes for your coffee to be in your hands and for you to drink it? We’re not even talking about the coffee machine or the cup, that’s additional, so can you see how much you really have right now that you may have never even acknowledged the effort this entire universe surrounding you has put forth for you to have that coffee and enjoy it?

Now that’s just an example.  There are millions of things you could be listing right now, yet most people live as though they don’t have anything. So I’d like to proceed to ask you the question that has the potential to open your eyes and to show you how truly blessed you are, even if you’ve learned to see life as the “cup half empty” or you feel you have too much missing in your life. Here it is:

  • If God today took away everything from you (from your senses to your health to your friends and family to your material things) and tomorrow He returned to you ONLY what you’ve grateful for, what would you have?

Mindboggling, right?

When you look at life from such a perspective, you can start noticing how much you actually take for granted.  I want to share a personal story that has really woken me up to see how two of the most basic things that we have are priceless but we don’t appreciate them.  Often we just assume that that’s how it should be, that they’re no big deal, but was they were taken away from me for a brief moment, I’ve never seen them the same way ever again.

Back in high school, I used to play volleyball for the varsity school team and I was playing during a championship where the scouts were flocking to pick the top players for the colleges and universities they represented.  I was on my A-game and I probably had one of the best days of my athletic life. All was good until, in a moment, I found myself on the ground unable to get back up.  I had jumped up to spike the ball over the net, but the ball was set too far.  Noticing it, I gave myself an extra push and I felt my knee pop.  I hit an ace and scored a point for my team, but upon returning to the ground, I fell down without being able to get myself back up.  Two knee surgeries and a horrible hospital experience later, I’ve never seen walking and breathing as something we just do, but rather a gift a lot of people don’t have.  The experience woke me up to see how unbelievably wonderful it is to be able to do both and rejoiced to be alive.

So if today you’re awake, if you have a couple people that love you and you’re able to do things, you’re much more blessed than you understand.

The reason I brought this up is so that you understand that you live in a very giving universe. VERY GIVING!

When you understand that and also the fact that the universe supports your dreams and your desires through the feelings, the thoughts and the actions you’re taking, all of a sudden you can recognize that you’re not doing this alone. There is a force backing you up at every step.

What you decide to do with this realization will be the difference between feeling successful, fulfilled and happy.

  • What are you taking for granted?
  • So what are you going to do to be more grateful for today?
  • What will you open the door for through an attitude of gratitude?

WHY will your 2020 be better than your 2019?

Every single year we begin with great intentions, a laundry list of goals and big hopes for some sort of a break.

What most people aren’t aware of is the fact that by the third week of January, about 90 percent of individuals who set up goals, have already given up on them! The momentum dies down and they’re back to square one: wishful thinking!

So I’d like to invite you to do things differently and look at things from a new perspective this year and the following years.

WHY do you want to make this year better?

(Did you catch that? I said “make” not “hope it will be”!)

The reason I asked the question that way is that we give our power away too much, too often and we live a life designed by others or by default. It’s time to claim back your power by making your decisions! Let’s continue…

Here’s the thing: we know “what” the goal we want to accomplish is at a very surface level.  We understand it logically but we don’t FEEL why we need the particular thing we aim for.  Due to the lack of clarity about why we are looking to do something, we are short on the pillars that support our goals.  Just like a table needs legs to become a table, that same way, your goal needs legs to stand on to become a worthy goal that’s going to serve you.

So what is it that you want?

  • lose weight?
  • make money?
  • find a partner?
  • get in shape?
  • break up with someone?
  • travel to Australia? (I’m not sure why Australia came to mind… maybe I should go visit :))
  • __________ (insert your own)

Don’t worry, I’m not trying to get you to set more goals.

So now that you figured out or remembered the goals you have already set or the intentions you’ve made for 2020, I’d like to invite you to understand the WHY(s) behind it.

Let’s take for example: “make more money”.  It seems that no matter what country we are from, what language we speak, what family background we come from, what gender we are, what type of work we do, we ALL want more money.

I coach entrepreneurs from all over the world every day, and this is the most common desire listed.  And it should be! I’ll explain why in just a moment, but before I do, I’d like to invite you to answer that for yourself.

  • WHY do YOU want to make more money?

I really would like for you to sit with this question for a few minutes to let that sink in before you read any further and then answer it.  If you don’t have the time to do that or want to finish the article, you’re free to do so, but please come back and do this in a quiet place.  Answer this question by connecting to a deeper and wiser part within you.  The answers to long-lasting change and success are inside of you, you just need to look for them.

Here are my observations: I found that when people seek to make more money it’s because it stems from a desire to grow, a desire to expand, a desire to express, a desire to help and a desire to contribute. People want to feel significant, they want to feel important, they want to know they’re secure, safe and taken care of.  There is a multitude of reasons WHY individuals desire to make more money, you just have to make sure you know your own.

When you do this, here’s what happens: you start following the things that matter, the things that call your name.  For example, if you want to make more money so you can contribute, the moment you feel like you don’t have the energy to show up, then you remember why you’re doing it so you’re less likely to procrastinate. You’ll create a pull that’s undeniable backed up by the intrinsic drivers.  The need to contribute is one of our most basic human needs, so understanding it helps you set things up in a more fluent way that leads to greater results.

Can you see how important it is to look at goals this way?

Now that you understand the importance of setting things in motion from a deeper and more connected way, I’d like for you to think through what will move the needle for you.

  • What are the areas in your life that are most important to you right now?
    • Is it your health?
    • Is it your personal relationships?
    • Is it your professional connections?
    • Is it your skills?

Once you decide which it is, then determine at least 3 reasons why that particular thing is important to you and do this one last thing. Ask yourself these last 2 questions:

  1. What will it cost me if I don’t show up consistently?
  2. What will be the cumulative effect in 3 to 5 years from now?

The deeper it sets in, the more likely you are to stick to it.  It becomes an integral part of your day and of your life. You now have the chance to set things in motion with an unbelievable force to pull you to your goals especially when the inevitable obstacles try to get in the way.  You are worth making things happen! You deserve to reach mastery!  Take what you’ve learned today, apply it and make things happen!
